Year 5 provides a unique opportunity for teacher and child. Our goal as teachers is to give our children a rich learning experience. One way we aim to do this is by making Year 5 an inclusive environment, ensuring all children can access the Skerne Park Academy experience. Inclusion is much more than a term we use and is something we learn about, giving children the chance to learn about other cultures as well as what British Values mean to us (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith).
It would be impossible to write a Year 5 Philosophy without the input of the children we teach. Throughout the transition period at the end of the 2016/2017 academic year and again at the start of the 2017/2018 academic year the children have been asked to share their goals, dreams and aspiration for this coming year. I must admit we have incredibly ambitious and inspiring children, who truly want to reach for the stars. Some of the things our children shared included
Along the way we expect to see many triumph, with children wanting to learn to swim, learn more about others, making new friends and generally learning more in Writing, Maths and Reading.
To achieve our goals as a year group we must learn personal resilience, maintain a healthy wellbeing and celebrate our success, something we will definitely be sharing with you on our amazing journey.
