Year 4

Philosophy

In Year 4, we aim to support and facilitate every individual to blossom into well-rounded members of society.

We know that every child at Skerne Park Academy has a different interest and learning style and, where possible, we tap into that to make our curriculum as relevant and engaging as possible. We seek to be entirely flexible in our planning and delivery of bespoke lessons so that they work around the individual needs of the children on that particular day; this can enable our children to begin to take ownership of their own learning journey.

As a team, we hope that the children we spend our time with will develop their natural curiosity and begin to explore the world around them with enthusiasm, deepening their own knowledge wherever possible. Particularly with our enquiry-based approach to Topic and Science, we provide the children with a starting point for their learning, allowing them the opportunity to explore their own interests within the subject confidently.

We recognise that there is far more to a child’s development other than what goes on in the classroom therefore we aspire to build up the whole child to become secure and confident within themselves.
